Craps Glossary
Any craps: a bet that the next roll will be 2, 3, or 12.
Any seven: a bet that the next roll will be 7.
Backline: Another term for the Don't Pass Line
Big 6 and Big 8: a bet that a 6 or an 8 will be rolled
before a 7 comes up.
Boxman: The supervisor at the center of the craps table.
Cold Table: A loosing table.
Come bet: A bet made after the come out bet that the dice
will repeat an established number after betting in the Come Box.
Come out: Rolls of the dice before a point has been established.
Craps: When the numbers 2,3 and 12 are rolled.
Crap Out: When the first roll is a 2,3 or 12.
Dealer: is responsible for all the bets made on his half of
the table.
Don't come: A bet made after the come out roll, a bet made
against a number.
Don't pass: A bet that the dice will not repeat the point
number before a 7. This bet can be placed only immediately before
a "come out" roll.
Field bet: a bet that the next roll would be 2, 3, 4, 9,
10, 11, or 12.
Floorman: Someone who supervises a part of the pit
Hard way Bet: a bet on 4, 6, 8, or 10 that wins only if
the dice show 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, or 5-5.
Hop bet: A one roll bet on any number.
Horn bet: A bet that the next roll will be 2, 3, 11, or
12.
Hot Table: A winning table Lay bet: A bet that a particular
number will not be rolled before a 7
Lay the odds: A bet placed on a number after the point
has been established before a 7 is rolled.
Line bet: The initial bet (at the beginning of the game),
placed either on the pass line or the don't pass line.
One roll bets: Bets determined by the dice roll.
Pass: Establishment of the point number
Pass bet: A bet that the dice will match the point number
before a 7
Place bets: A bet that a particular number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9,
or 10) will be rolled before a 7 comes up
Point numbers: If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 is rolled on the
come out roll, then this number becomes the "point".
Push: A tie
Right bettor: a player who bets that the dice against the
7.
Seven out: If the 7 is rolled after the point has been
established. All bets are lost.
Shooter: the player who is rolling the dice
Stickman: the casino employee who calls out the dice rolls
and returns the dice to the shooter.
Vigorish, Vig: A term for the house edge.
Wager: A bet
Working: A verbal call that bets are live.
Whirl bet: a bet that the next roll will be 2, 3, 7, 11, or
12, made in multiples of 5, with one unit on each of the numbers.
Wrong bettor: A player who bets that the dice will roll
7 before the point.
